Overdue update - logistics details
almost 3 years ago – Thu, May 13, 2021 at 12:25:42 AM

Hi guys, I’m still here!

As I’ve mentioned in previous updates, life has been insanely busy for me over the past year and a half. The result is that I haven’t had the time/mental bandwidth to complete what was needed to get these Stories decks produced and into your hands yet. The main reason for delays is simply that the logistics of this project are very complex and I’ve had to focus my time and energy elsewhere in the meantime.

However, it seems that my schedule has finally lightened a bit, enough to allow me time to wrap up all the loose ends and get things moving. Over the next couple weeks I plan to make progress on all fronts. Below is a detailed list of where everything is currently at and what still needs to be taken care of. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to get any of this done sooner but I again assure you that I haven’t abandoned the project or any of my backers.

Also, you can see that the Centurio decks have shipped out and been received and the cards look awesome. I opted to fulfill that project sooner than this one because it was much more straightforward and simpler logistically.

Thank you again for your ongoing patience and understanding!

CURRENT STATUSES

As I mentioned in a previous update, the artwork files needed to be adjusted a bit as margins were too tight for USPC standards. The artwork is updated and has been sent to USPC for the red, blue, and green decks.

The black deck artwork may still need some adjusting depending on what is needed by Cartamundi. I need to follow up and hopefully will be able to get a prompt response this time from them regarding art specs and what they need from me for the black deck to be printed.

The purple deck artwork is completed. As I mentioned in a previous update, Cartamundi is unable to print at the 5”x7” size that I initially had planned for this deck. I don’t think they offer any other larger deck sizes that maintain the same aspect ratio as a standard poker deck (I still need to verify this with them directly). The alternative option I’m looking at is printing with MPC, which has been producing extremely high quality cards and they offer several jumbo size options which could work (5x7 as well as a mid-range option with the same aspect ratio). I still need to verify cost and compare to the projections based on Cartamundi pricing to see what is viable and still within the budget that was expected when pricing was set on Kickstarter.

Ideally I would love to offer something special on the jumbo decks other than standard ink printing but again this may be cost-prohibitive because MPC pricing is higher for these decks than Cartamundi had quoted.

Tuckbox artwork is mostly finalized but I need to review and clean up some files. I also need to verify the jumbo sizing and will likely need to modify the tuckbox art for the jumbo deck but this will depend on specs provided by GW for the actual tucks.

Same status for the outer box that holds the 4 standard size decks - I need to finalize this with GW and make sure the artwork is properly set up.

Sticker seal and set seal artwork is finalized and ready to send to the sticker manufacturer. Coin artwork is in same status.

I also need to review the backerkit users and compile a final list of shipments.

I will keep you posted with progress on these items. Obviously we’re still a ways off before fulfillment will happen but we’ll get there eventually.

Thanks again,

David

Update: I'm still here and project is still moving forward, albeit slowly
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2020 at 12:52:24 PM

Hey everyone,

I just posted an update on the Centurio campaign as well...

Again, I apologize for being unavailable lately. I've been completely buried with work and life responsibilities. I won't get into the details here but just wanted to assure you this project is still moving forward and that I haven't disappeared.

The Centurio project is almost completed and once I've completely finished with fulfillment on it then I can shift focus to getting this Stories project completed.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this insane time. -David

Quick update: not much to report yet
almost 4 years ago – Wed, Jun 24, 2020 at 02:47:11 PM

Hey everyone,

Thank you again for your ongoing patience. We are making progress and these decks will get into your hands as soon as possible but there are still some ongoing delays due to Covid-related production timing as well as my personal schedule. I'm hoping to have more specific information on timeline soon and I plan to share that with you once it's more solidified.

As this project is more extensive with many more moving parts than my Centurio project, I expect it will take longer to coordinate everything as we're waiting for items from a number of different manufacturers. Everything is still behind schedule but I will keep you updated once I have any new information to share. I hope to have something more substantial and interesting to announce soon...

Thanks! -David

Overdue update — explanation and apologies!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 02:00:59 PM

Hey all,

First of all I want to apologize for not having posted an update sooner as I know many of you are eager to understand what's happening with both of my Kickstarter projects. The past few months have been extremely busy for me and I've been meaning to post an update and keep you in the loop but haven't had time to really organize my thoughts and write an update of any real value. I should have at least posted something short and quick but I didn't and I'm sorry and I promise to keep you updated more regularly moving forward.

Two and a half months ago we welcomed a new baby into our household which has been absolutely amazing but also time and energy consuming. On top of that, due to the Corona virus issues that we're all facing, our older son's preschool has been closed so he's been at home all day every day. And in addition, projects at my day job have gotten much busier. All of this adds up to me being extremely busy and exhausted most of the time and honestly I just haven't had time to make much progress with any of my Vanda projects, which I handle entirely by myself.

The USPC has been closed for a while due to the virus as well, which means delays in all production for all customers on their end. They recently reopened though so the queue should start moving forward at this point.

The good news is that both of these projects will still move forward and the decks will still be produced and sent out as I know you are just as excited as I am to see these get printed. At this point there will be delays and I'm not yet sure what the new timeline will look like yet but I assure you these decks will eventually get into your hands.

In the meantime, I have a few other exciting tidbits to share which I will post about as soon as I can find time to put together all the details on everything. So please stay tuned for some fun announcements!

I very much appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding of delays and just ask that you continue to be patient and I will keep you updated of any progress on my end.

Thank you,

David
